Description

Maca is a cruciferous vegetable which has been cultivated by the native people of Peru for over 2000 years. It thrives in harsh conditions at high elevations; and is rich in lipids, protein, and a variety of sterols, as well as vitamins B and C. It also provides plenty of iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium and iodine. Maca is considered to be an adaptogen (or stress-adaptor), helping the body adapt to and avoid damage from adverse environmental factors. Maca also helps increase energy and can enhance mood.  It is believed to promote sexual health for both men and women by balancing hormones and increasing fertility. Athletes nowadays also take maca to enhance endurance and stamina and boost energy to achieve peak performance.


Organic Triple Maca Powder are raw, field-fresh maca roots that are sanitized, dried, and powdered, yet never heated above 100F/40C, preserving all enzymes and nutrients at peak levels. Phenotype genetics provide a harvest with ratios of approximately 60-70% yellow maca, 20-25% red maca and 10-15% black maca in Peru. Our Triple Maca are prepared in a golden ratio of 2:2:1 of Black /Red /Yellow maca so as to provide a balanced mix of the three types of Maca; and it is suitable to be consumed by both male and female.


Maca has a predominantly earthy, nutty taste with hints of malt and caramel. Peruvians cook it as a root vegetable or make it into flour to produce bread and baked goods. Maca powder can also be used in smoothies, energy bars, salad dressings, puddings, raw sweets and juices. Or can mix with hot drinks like coffee, soup or stews for easy digestion and absorption.
